NFF crisis: Dikko may replace Pinnick

Warring factions of the Nigeria Football Federation may have settled for Mallam Shehu Dikko as the new president of the federation. Sources at the Glass House hinted that a meeting was summoned at the instance of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, who wants both parties to arrive at a resolution to save the life of Nigerian football.

The move, according to our source, was on the order of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibajo (SAN). Osinbajo was said to have ordered Dalung to quell the crisis in order to prevent further embarrassment on the country.

The resolution arrived at the meeting was for the NFF Congress to sack Amaju Pinnick, while Chris Giwa will also step aside to pave the way for a fresh candidate to emerge as the new boss.

Both parties however preferred Dikko to emerge based on his high profile and ingenuity in the game.

As against the backdrop of the minister’s arrangement, it was learnt that an extraordinary congress of the Nigeria Football Federation is expected to take place on Wednesday in Abuja, where Giwa and his group would be slammed long-term bans.

A good number of FA chairmen and secretaries have already arrived in Abuja in time for the congress.
