Bye-Elections: The ICPC detains alleged vote buyers in Sokoto with large quantities of money

At least three people have been detained by agents of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) for allegedly purchasing votes in Sokoto State on Saturday during the byelection process.

This was said by the commission in a post on its official X account.

According to the post, N3,105,400 was found inside the voting premises when the suspects were apprehended in a polling place at the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency in Sokoto State.

The commission declared that all of the suspects had been placed under arrest and emphasized that an investigation had begun to determine the motive behind the conduct.

ICPC noted that it will work with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the prosecution of the cases.

News360 Info reports that the electoral umpire had on Saturday suspended the election in some parts of the country following violence and abduction of officials by hoodlums.
