Residents of Lagos Island and vendors at the bustling Idumota market staged a small-scale drama on Friday by yelling in Yoruba, “Ebi npa wa oo,” which translates to “we are hungry,” to show their displeasure with President Bola Tinubu.
The traders, who gathered on both sides of the road as the president’s convoy passed through the constantly bustling market, did not wave him down; instead, they continued to discuss their suffering, which they felt was caused by the government.
Underneath the complaining voices in the video, residents were heard saying the presidency had known the plans of the people which was the reason for the heavy security. However, the alleged initial plan was not made known.
The President is in Lagos to celebrate both Christmas and New Year.
News360 Info reports that Nigerians are currently celebrating the Yuletide under a series of economic challenges ranging from the shortage of cash to the skyrocketing price of the premium motor spirit commonly called petrol.
