2023: APC Behind Attacks On INEC Offices In Osun, Ogun – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of been behind the attacks on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in Ogun and Osun States.

Recall that some unknown hoodlums, last Thursday, invaded the commission’s office in Oke-Iresi, Ede South Local Government Area of the state and set it on fire.

Exhibits recovered from the scene of the incident include leftovers of the bread bomb, a face cap and a gallon of petrol.

The incident happened hours after a similar event was recorded at the INEC office in Ogun State ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, the PDP Spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, said the plan of the ruling party was to stop the electoral agency from conducting the 2023 general elections.

Ologunagba, who also accused the APC of sponsoring the attacks against PDP presidential campaign teams in Kano and Borno, said the ruling party’s plan was to instill fear in the citizenry, disorganised and weaken other political parties.

The PDP spokesman claimed that the ruling party resorted to use of violence, having realised that its presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, can no longer participate in the election.

“The plan of the APC is to instill fear in the citizenry, disorganised and weaken other political parties, frighten, hamstring and immobilize INEC from conducting the 2023 general elections,” he stated.

The PDP spokesman further called on INEC not to succumb to what it called APC’s blackmail and ensure that the forthcoming general elections is transparent, peaceful and credible.

He urged the commission to be focused and carry out its duties in accordance with the Constitution and the Electoral Act so as to engender confidence in the citizens with respect to the integrity of those seeking public office in the country.
