Go To The Farm If You Don’t Want To Die Of Hunger – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked Nigerians to farm what they eat to avoid dying of hunger.

The president opined that Nigerians have no reason to complain about being hungry.

He stated this while speaking with the Tambarin Hausa TV.

The nation’s leader explained that his position was responsible for the decision to ban rice importation.

He maintained that Nigeria can still feed itself despite the floods that had affected farming communities.

Buhari said the decision of his government to ban rice importation had led to the farming of rice.

According to Buhari: “I took that decision to stop rice importation and said we should farm what we eat or die of hunger.

I said that since we have farmland and God has blessed us with rain, what reason does a Nigerian have to say he’s hungry?

If you are hungry, go to the farm. I’m aware that floods have ravaged some farmlands this season but we are still selling rice made in Nigeria, and we can feed ourselves.”

Reacting to a question from the convener of a group based in the North, Obi stressed that all Nigerians face the same problems.

“There is nowhere in Nigeria where a person buys cheaper bread because he is a Muslim or a Christian. Our economic problems arising from poor leadership do not discriminate on the basis of religion or tribe,” he stated.

The LP flag bearer argued that it is time for the country leadership to change the methods that has continuously failed the economy.

He urged citizens not to vote for him or any 2023 contestant on ethnic or religious considerations. Noting that he is most qualified in the presidential race, Obi said his antecedents and qualifications are open for scrutiny.

“I am the only governor in Nigerian history who finished eight years, left money, built infrastructure, owed no contractor, salary or pension,” he said.

Speaking further, he disclosed that he plans on focusing on the North due to the region’s enormous potential that needs to be tapped and harnessed

According to him: “I am going to change the region. We need to cultivate arable land there; respected Nigerians from the North have ruled this country but the ten poorest states are from the region.”

He noted that the region has the most unemployed youths, out-of-school children, and the worst school kidnapping record globally.
