Sanwo-Olu Picks APC Form, Set To Contest Ticket For Second Term As Lagos Governor

The incumbent Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has picked the All Progressives Congress Governorship Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the 2023 election.

Sanwo-Olu will be seeking the APC ticket to enable him contest for a second term in office as the Lagos State Governor.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile who made the disclosure on Friday, said the forms were picked at the APC National Secretariat on behalf of his principal by Hon James Faleke.

He added that it was done at a time former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal also picked up the presidential nomination forms on behalf of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Taking to his Twitter account, he shared a video alongside the caption: “The train is leaving the station. No one should stand in the way of progress. Two forms were picked today at the @OfficialAPCNg secretariat. Hon James Faleke picked on behalf of Gov @jidesanwoolu while former SGF Babachir Lawal picked on behalf of @officialABAT.”

The development comes about two weeks after the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) threw its weight behind the second term bid of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile who made the disclosure stated that the Lagos governor was also given pass mark for staying through to the developmental agenda of Lagos.

According to Akosile, the decision to back Sanwo-Olu’s second term bid was taken at a meeting in Lagos on Monday.

In a similar development, the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Olumo, has vowed to back Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in office.

MC Olumo made this known last Wednesday while reacting to the report that the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) had endorsed Sanwo-Olu’s re-election.
