NDLEA Levelled False Allegations Against Me – Abba Kyari

The suspended head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, has accused the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of framing him for alleged dealing in cocaine trafficking.

The embattled Deputy Commission of Police made the accusation during the hearing of his suit against the Federal Government on Monday before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22 and filed by his counsel, Cynthia Obianuju Ikenna, Kyari claimed that the NDLEA arrested and detained him based on a false allegation that was levelled against him.

The embattled police officer also claimed that he is suffering from chronic diabetes which has worsened since his detention by the NDLEA at its headquarters in Abuja.

He, however, prayed to the court to compel the anti-narcotic agency to grant him bail pending the hearing and determination of his fundamental right suit.

Kyari’s lawyer told the court: “Effort by my client who is the Applicant to persuade the court to order Kyari’s release on the ground that his health has deteriorated badly failed.”

His request was however turned down by Justice Ekwo, who adjourned the case to Thursday, February 24, 2022.
