A 39-year-old tenant identified as Tunmise Abraham, has been arrested and paraded by the Ekiti state police command for allegedly raping and killing his landlady, Mrs Bukola Olanrewaju in the state’s capital Ado Ekiti.
The murder suspect admitted hitting the 38-year-old tailor and mother of three with a stick out of anger, but insisted he did not kill her intentionally. He also alleged that the late Bukola always taunted him with being stammerer and mad person.
Parading the suspect before newsmen at Ekiti state police headquarters, the state’s Police commissioner Mr Amba Asuquo, said the suspect was arrested in Akure where he fled to after killing his landlady.
The Commissioner said, “The suspect overpowered the deceased by forcefully collecting from her the stick she was holding and using it to beat her on the head, which resulted into a serious head injury.
“He further found a rope which he used to tie up the hands of the woman, who was later found dead in a pool of blood as a result of the head injury she sustained.”
