Suspected armoured cable thief electrocuted to death in Delta


A suspected armoured cable thief, was in the early of Sunday, electrocuted to death in his attempt to steal a cable from a transformer.

The incident occurred at CTC road near former Governor James Onanefe Ibori’s late mother’s residence in Oghara Community in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was learnt that the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC restored light to the area which has been in darkness for days while the deceased suspect was cutting off the armoured cable.

In the process, he (suspected armoured cable thief) was electrocuted and he died on the spot.

Promptly, the police arrived the area and evacuated the remains of the deceased to a morgue.

When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke confirmed the report saying, “It is true.”
