Confusion as policeman shoots NYSC member dead just one day to her passing out

The incident happened around Ceddi Plaza, Abuja.

Narrating what happened, the Convener of EndSARS, Segun Awosanya told Nation: “She finished at work late at about 11pm and joined a few friends to a hang out before their Passing Out Parade scheduled for Thursday (today).

“They left for home at about 3am and was shot at shortly after the check point immediately after Ceddi Plaza by a Police Officer identified as Benjamin Peters.

“She was rushed to the Garki hospital but they wouldn’t treat her until they see a police report despite the fact that the police officers were present. While the deliberation was ongoing, Angela bled to death.

“The case was later taken to Federal Secretariat Police Station. We are awaiting the police report on the incident and have initiated a petition to the commissioner of police & the Force Headquarters.”

On what the police told the sister of the deceased, Awosanya said: “The police said they saw a convertible car and they didn’t know those inside and then the policeman who shot at them said that he heard help in his subconscious.

“My question is, even if you hear help in your subconscious, is the solution to fire at the person who is shouting for help? You could not stop them, double cross them or find a way to stop the vehicle to be sure everyone was okay but you instead opened fire at them?

“I think this is a lie and they are trying to cover up their evil acts.”

Confirming the incident, Police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said that the command was investigating the incident.
