Former Delta State governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has filed an appeal in a British court against his 2012 conviction.
The appeal was filed on his behalf by his counsel on March 17 at Southwark London court
A statement from Ibori’s Media Assistant, Tony Eluemunor, said the court has adjourned indefinitely the on-going proceedings concerning the second confiscation hearing, as a result of the appeal.
The former Delta governor was released from London prison last December after spending four years out of his 13-year jail term.
He was alleged to have stolen more than $250 million from the treasury of Delta State.
The statement observed that the original three-week confiscation hearing before Judge Pitts in September 2013 was unable to make any finding of theft from the Delta State.
