Mass wedding: Kano marries off 1,520 women

Kano State Government has organised a mass wedding for 1,520 women out of 3,000 couples satisfied by the Hisbah Board.

Government also took responsibility for the payment of the bride price for all the 1,520 women. It also provided room furniture and two sets of new clothing for each woman and her husband.

Speaking during the marriage which was held across the 44 local government areas of the state, the Hisbah Commandant of Kano, Shiek Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, said the board had undertaken health test for each couple before accepting to wed them.

He said blood test and other relevant tests were conducted for the married couples and that they were satisfied to be of good health.

Daurawa disclosed that a form was also issued to each husband which he filled. According to him, its entails that the man cannot unilaterally divorce his wife and that he will not leave her without food, clothing and shelter.
