The Niger Delta Avengers has described the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Yusuf Buratai, as a liar.
The position of the Avengers was based on a statement credited to Buratai that the members of the group killed over 50 soldiers.
But the group said the Army Chief lied because it was not its members that killed the soldiers but their inexperience in the terrain where they had come to operate.
The Niger Delta Avengers in two tweets on Mondaymorning said the soldiers sent to the creek had no amphibian training and as such ran into troubled waters.
It said but for the intervention of local fishermen, over 100 of the soldiers would have died.
It added: “Chief of Army Staff we not the ones killing your Soldiers STOP LYING.”
