Ebola: The stigma was terrible but we survived it — Dr Adejoro

ANOTHER survivor, Dr. Adewale Adejoro, whose wife, Mrs. Opeyemi Justina Adejoro, was safely delivered a healthy baby girl on December 1, 2015, thanked God for his complete healing.

“My belief is that it all happened for a purpose. Today I have a baby and everything about Ebola is in the past.

“Now we have so many reasons to be thankful even though I’m sad that we lost some people including our mentor, Dr Stella Adadevoh and others that died. They gave their lives for Nigeria to be a better place.

“Today I’m grateful to God because I’m alive I have a baby. I went through many tests, and more tests were done again even after I was discharged after testing negative to the Ebola virus.

“When my wife was pregnant, the tests were done again, but for both of us it was negative, and after the baby was delivered, both of us and the baby were tested again. The result is negative.

“Öur baby was born December 1, 2015. I thank God I’m now a father and God has a purpose for all that we went through, but in everything we give glory to God.

Recalling his encounter with Ebola, Adejoro said: “Those periods were terrible in our lives. Emotionally the stigma was terrible but we survived it. The lesson is that even though we go through challenges in life, they are just trying periods that will not last.

“ Just as we have started a new year and its January, very soon it will be December 31st, so as long as a day and night will come, whatever challenges we are going through in life are just trying periods. If we are patient and hopeful and trust God, we will have testimonies at the end of it”.
