Lagos-based pastor, Tunde Bakare has disclosed that God told him to run for the presidency of Nigeria.
He contested as vice presidential candidate to Muhammadu Buhari under the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011 and lost.
However, Bakare, who is the founder and head of Latter Rain Assembly, said God told him to shelve his plan of ending his political career.
He made this known at the church’s Cross Over service in Ogba, Lagos on Sunday evening.
However, the lawyer turned pastor said God has yet to give him the ‘appointed time’ to contest for the nation’s top office.
The pastor revealed 12 things that God has told him would happen in 2018.
He said, “This twelfth one is a difficult one for me. It may draw excitement or condemnation. I have tried my best to keep it (to myself ) but the Holy Spirit will not allow me to do so.
“In my study around 4 am on Sunday morning, God told me ‘you cannot bring your political career to a close; there is still more to do. Run for the Presidency. I will do it at the appointed time.”
Bakare said he was not bothered by the lack of resources to take on the race.
He added, “Joseph (in the Bible) did not contest an election; yet, he became the prime minister of Egypt. Why must I worry myself about where to get the resources for the task? Your own duty in this assignment is to pray along with me. When it is the appointed time, He ( God ) will do it. When He tells me the time, you will hear about it.”
He also disclosed that God has told him that many “political juggernauts” in the country would fall at the feet of women in 2018.
The cleric also prophesied that many top political leaders in the country today would be replaced.
He equally said that God showed him that women will make great gains politically and in the boardroom.
