Nigerian set ablaze by Ghanaian wife

Thirty-eight year old Comfort Agboloshie, last weekend allegedly set her husband, Lawrence Nkem, 45, a Nigerian and his brother, Benjamin Oyem ablaze, while they were asleep.
The incident occurred at Lebanon Zone two, Ashaiman of the Greater Accra Region.
The victims were severely burnt, when the room they were sleeping was set ablaze by Comfort, who also bolted the door to prevent them from escaping.
Nkem, who sustained third degree burns, is currently in a coma at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital n Accra. His brother died on the way to the hospital.
Although the circumstance that led to the vicious act is still shrouded in controversy, one account claimed that the suspect, who always felt insecure due to her inability to bear her husband a male child got wind of information that the husband planned bringing in a new wife. She became livid.
According to the account, Comfort sprayed some clothes with kerosene, set them on fire and threw the clothes into the room the victims were sleeping. She then proceeded to lock the door to hinder access into the room.
A member of the Nigerian Community in Ghana, who refused to have his name in print expressed regret over the incident saying, “It is unfortunate it happened and we could do nothing to prevent it. But we are following the matter with keen interest to ensure that justice is served at the end of the day.”
