FIRS seals Bolingo Hotel Abuja

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on Wednesday sealed the Bolingo Hotel, Abuja, over suspected tax matters.

A source at the FIRS said the measure was part of the deliberate action to shore up government revenue drive, especially in the area of recovery of tax revenues from defaulting organizations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the entrance of the hotel building was sealed by the FIRS officials who stormed the premises and directed workers to vacate their offices.

Mobile policemen and other security agents were stationed at the entrance to prevent visitors from the hotel building.

All staff of First Bank of Nigeria PlC, at the hotel’s branch, were chased out of the workplace.

“We were working when our boss asked us to shut down operation for the day and leave the bank premises,” some of the bankers told NAN.

A NAN correspondent who witnessed the action and attempted to make inquiries from the hotel management was prevented from entry by fierce-looking policemen at the gate.
