The wife of police shooting victim Keith Lamont Scott has released shocking footage of the moment he was shot dead.
The death of Mr Scott, who is black, sparked mass protests and riots in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Distressing footage released by his family’s attorney to the New York Times shows Rakeyia Scott desperately shouting at officers not to shoot her husband.
The shooting is not shown in the video, but the gunshot can be heard and Mr Scott can be seeing lying on the ground.
In the video, Mrs Scott shouts: ‘Don’t shoot him. Don’t shoot him. He has no weapon. He has no weapon. Don’t shoot him.’
Her requests are interrupted by men, believed to be police officers, shouting ‘drop the gun’.
After the gunshot, she appears to become more distressed.
Police in North Carolina previously refused to release the footage, saying they did not want to impede their investigation.
