4,542 Officers were promoted Between May, June – PSC

The Police Service Commission (PSC), said a total of 4542 senior officers were promoted to their next ranks between May and June.

‎In a statement by its Head, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC said: “Out of this number, the Commission approved special promotion for 16 officers based on exceptional performance and dedication to duty on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police.”
According to the Commission, two officers were elevated based on acts of gallantry, while 188 others were placed on acting appointments on their next ranks.
It said the the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, has since been notified of the promotions, for implementation.
A breakdown of the promotion shows that 7 Commissioners of Police (CPs) were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police, 7 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to CPs, 1711 Inspectors moved to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).
”Chairman of the Commission, Sir, Dr. Mike Mbama Okiro, a retired Inspector General of Police, said the affected officers should reciprocate government gesture by rededictating themselves to the service of the nation.
“He enjoined them to ensure that they are guided by the approved rules and regulations of the Force and that they operate with the fear of God.
“Dr. Okiro said the Commission will continue to ensure that promotion of police men is regular to serve as a tonic for effective and efficient service,” the statement noted.
