DSS operative kills UNIJOS student

An operative of the Department of Security Services killed a 24-year-old final year student of computer engineering of the University of Jos on Tuesday evening, causing confusion along Ahmadu Bello Way in the central business district of Jos
.
The student, identified as Paul Hezekiah, was said to be working with a phone shop, Johnson Sky Phones and Company, located at No. 11 Ahmadu Bello Way in fulfilment of a three-month Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme.

He died on the first day on the job as his SIWES acceptance form was signed on March 15.

Our correspondent gathered that the operatives had invaded the place called GSM Plaza, popular for the sale of phones and accessories at about 6pm on Tuesday to make some arrests.

Hezekiah, who is from Adamawa State, was said to have attempted enter his shop when the operatives started the raid, but he was shot at close range.

The 24-year-old was said to have slumped immediately after which the operatives bundled him into a while Hillux van and drove off.

It was gathered that he died on the way and the operatives took his corpse to the mortuary of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos.

The Police Commissioner in Plateau State, Mr. Adekunle Oladunjoye, confirmed the incident.

He said that the student was shot by some DSS operatives who went to area on an assignment.
