FG to train workers on forensic investigation

The Federal Government has said it will partner the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to train Civil Servants on forensic investigation for accountability and efficient service delivery.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita said this within the week in Abuja when she received the President and members of the governing council of ICAN in her office.

She said the time had come for the inculcation of new innovations and proactive attitude to improve the skills of civil servants in order to ensure better service delivery to Nigerians.

Mrs. Oyo-Ita said that training of workers in forensic investigation will not only restore integrity and dignity of the service but also bring about an efficient, productive, incorruptible and citizen-centered civil service.

President of ICAN Otunba Femi Deru, stressed the need for nomination and sponsorship of Accountants in the civil service to enable them attend courses outlined by its professional body to enhance their skills, saying that knowledge is perishable when not renewed.

He expressed confidence that civil servants would perform optimally if the present administration will explore possible ways to equip them with relevant skills and materials especially in the area of ICTs.
