Buhari’s Campaign: APC Denies Amaechi Spent $150 Million

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied allegations that former governor of the state and now Minister of Transport, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi spent $150 million on APC elections.

According to the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Chris Finebone, the allegation was “a big lie taken from the very depth of hell”.

Finebone was reacting to a statement by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who said on Sunday at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state, that Amaechi spent the said money on APC election between December 1 and 18, 2014.

Wike also vowed to recover the money.

In his response Finebone said: “That (allegation) is a big lie taken from the very depth of hell. Wike talks big and tough, but behind his tough-talking is a moronic coward. He will not advance that accusation beyond the comfort of his audience.

“His deeds are awaiting him and at the appropriate time, he will be held to account. If he is serious, let him go to court and summon Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. But you can be sure that he (Wike) will not do that because that Amaechi is without blemish.”

In the same vein, Wike said he would have opted out of the governorship rerun in Rivers state if the Supreme Court had not affirmed the mandate given to him by the Rivers people.

He said he would have done so to avoid the bloodshed that would have greeted any attempt to organise a rerun of the governorship election in the state.

“Nothing is impossible with God. Men of God prophesied a few days to the Supreme Court ruling that the judgment will confirm the mandate given to us by the Rivers people.

“We won the election clearly as has been confirmed by the Supreme Court. If there was a rerun, I wouldn’t have contested because there would have been a bloodbath. I resolved not to be part of anything that would bring about bloodbath.”

He assured the residents of the state that with the confirmation of his mandate by the apex court, his administration will settle down to the business of bringing development to the state and its people.
