Insecurity: South-East Gradually Becoming North-East – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani is not happy with the killings and destruction taking place in the South East.

Sani represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly.

He lamented that the Southeastern part of Nigeria, which was known for peace, is gradually witnessing the level of insecurity in the North-East.

Recall that Boko Haram sect was established by the late Mohammed Yusuf in 2002 in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, the North-East has been in a security crisis.

Similarly, insecurity has continued to ravage the South-East ranging from the crisis between farmers and Fulani herdsmen to the current face-off between the security operatives and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The IPOB and its security outfit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have been accused of being behind attacks on security agencies and government facilities in the region.

Reacting, the former lawmaker who condemned the attacks in the region, stressed that the “terrorists like unknown Gunmen can only destabilize the region through their operations”.

Shehu made the remake on Monday via a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.

“Everything that happened in the North East is gradually happening in the South East. The tragic experiences of the people of Borno, Yobe & Adamawa should be a lesson to learn from.

“Terrorists like unknown Gunmen can only destabilize the region with their operations. This must stop”.

In another tweet, Senator Shehu pointed out the negative effects of terrorism on the country and its citizens.

He said, “When violence persists in a region in the form of attacks, killings, collapse of security and gross human rights violations by both the state and non-state actors, foreign countries will start issuing travel advisory warnings, then pull out of investment and then displacement of people”.
