Kano rerun: Police arrest suspected ballot snatchers

A gang of young people attempting to sabotage the polls in Kano State’s Kunchi Local Government area have been detained by the police carrying potentially lethal weapons.

News360 Info noted that reports indicate the arrest of hundreds of armed youths who were traveling towards Kunchi/Tsanyawa Local Government Areas in an attempt to incite violence and spread fear, despite State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Usaini Gumel’s statement that no violence was reported during the ongoing rerun elections across 60 polling units in six local government areas and three constituencies.

Voter boxes were allegedly stolen during the process by some young people in the Tsanyawa local government district.
