The Dangote Group said its 650,000 barrels per day Lagos-based refinery has started processing Premium Motor Spirit and the product will soon hit the Nigerian market.
The company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Monday.
According to him, just as the company had commenced the supply of Automotive Gas Oil, AGO (diesel), its petrol will end the man-hours Nigerians spend endlessly in filling stations.
He stressed that Dangote Petrol would make the product available and affordable for the majority of Nigerians.
According to him: “The refinery has started producing Premium Motor Spirit. We just narrowly missed August by a day. We will hit the market soon.
Just as we did to Automated Gas Oil, AGO, we started producing, and in a short time, the product hit the market. It will come this September. When it gets to commercial quantity and hits the market, you will know.
The aim is to ensure that the product is available and affordable so that Nigerians will not continue to queue endlessly, losing manhours of work.”
This comes after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, at the weekend admitted that it is facing financial strain over the supply cost of petrol.
NNPCL’s statement had further heightened anxiety within the country’s energy as Nigerians groan over prolonged fuel scarcity.
