To Fight Poverty, FG Gives ₦438 Billion To 34 States, Abuja

Under the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Program, the Federal Government has provided about ₦438 billion to 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in an effort to combat poverty.

Suleiman Odapu, the Federal CARES Support Unit (FCSU)’s information and communication officer, reportedly made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

The NG-CARES Program’s National Coordinator, Abdulkarim Obaje, was quoted by Odapu as saying that the money was distributed according to how the states and the Federal Territory performed in the third Independent Verification Agency (IVA) evaluation, which was carried out in January 2024.
