2023: ‘Presidency Not Turn by Turn’ – Peter Obi Attacks Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has slammed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for saying that it is his turn to be President in 2023.

Speaking on Monday at the LP Presidential campaign rally in Warri, Delta Stat, the former Governor of Lagos State stated that Nigeria’s presidency is not “turn by turn”.

The LP flagbearer added that if the presidency was to be turn by turn, it would be his “turn” to take over power from President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Obi, it is the turn of Nigerians, especially those full of energy, to be president and not the APC presidential candidate.

He said: “Somebody said it is his turn to be president, I want to tell you that the president is not turn by turn. If it is turn by turn, it is supposed to be my turn but we are not using turn by turn. It is the turn of Nigerians to be president especially those full of energy.

No tribe buys bread or rice cheaper, no religion buys bread cheaper. Vote for commitment and capacity.

We are not going to give excuses. I am not going to remind you of where you’re coming from or blame people where they failed. Am assuring you that a new Nigeria is possible.

Hold me responsible if we failed you in the area of security, economy. We will make the country work again. There will be no more strikes in the education sector again in this country.”

Speaking further, Obi said a new Nigeria is possible if he is voted into office in the 2023 general election.

The LP candidate also urged residents of the state to consider character and competence before voting in the coming election.

He said: “A new Nigeria is possible. All of you will be part of it. Don’t listen to them. They’ve been here for a long time; they’ve not done anything for anybody.

Go out and vote for me and Datti. I assure you I will not be in Abuja; I will visit here as president. When I come back, you will be proud that you voted somebody who is going to care about you; that is what we want.

Go out and vote Labour all the way. Stay there; vote, convince your neighbours.”
