Police nab pastor, three others over suspected robbery


The Police authorities in Delta State have arrested a pentecostal pastor, Evangelist Aluya Meshach and three other suspects inside a tricycle for possession of firearms after a stop and search operation in Warri.

Delta Police spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu said in a statement Tuesday in Asaba that the ‘Man of God’ was nabbed with his accomplices, after they attempted to escape when the police discovered illegal weapons in their possession.

​”On November 22, 2015 at about 7.pm, Police Quick Response patrol team while on patrol along cross and stop junction by tipper garage Udu stopped, accosted one Tricycle with Reg. No. AGU 274 VV.

“The occupants of the tricycle were one Evangelist Aluya Meshach, 40 years old, with three others namely, Sampson Kala, Efe Atuya and Charles Okonatotor.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects attempted to escape, but were fatally wounded in the process; police searched the tricycle and recovered two cut to size single barrel guns and five live cartridges.

Kalu said the suspects and the exhibits have since been taken into custody, adding that investigation into the discovery has commenced to unravel the motive of the suspects.
