Former Chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has said the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, should have known he had no leverage on the fight with his political opponents and godfather cum Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
News360 Info reports that Amadi made the remark on Monday in a post via his handle after Fubara’s loyalists in the forthcoming 2027 elections were screened out by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in favour of Wike’s allies.
All 32 aspirants backed by Fubara reportedly failed to scale the screening committee of the APC for the 2027 Rivers State Assembly election.
At the same time, the four-man committee cleared 29 serving members of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Wike, led by Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol, to participate in the APC primaries.
Speaking on the recent development, Amadi asserted that Fubara lacked the political leverage to confront his opponents.
According to him, Fubara should not have fought with Wike, stressing that every fight is principled.
He wrote: “Sad. Fubara should have known he had no leverage. What his opponent does in the political economy of election rigging, he cannot do.
“Sometimes it is good to fight even if you cannot win. Fighting as a dignified person is enough reward.
By the way, Fubara should not have fought his mentor is there is no real reason to fight. Every fight should be principled, not opportunistic. If it is principled, then you can sustain it even if you will bloodied.”
