It’s now more expensive to be boyfriend than husband – BBNaija Tochi

Former Big Brother Naija reality star, Tochi, has sparked debate with his recent comparison of the financial burden between a boyfriend and a husband.

The reality star, known for sharing hot takes on relationships, recently claimed that it is now more expensive to be a boyfriend than a husband.

On his Instastory, the outspoken reality star wrote, “It’s more expensive now to be a boyfriend than a husband.”

A screenshot of his original post quickly went viral on social media, sparking a fierce debate.

While many agreed with his claim, others expressed disbelief, describing it as unrealistic to a large extent and a gross generalisation.

Our correspondent learnt that properties worth millions of naira were affected during the incident.

Our correspondent gathered that the fire started more than one hour before the men of the Oyo State Fire Service were contacted.

The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident.

Akinyinka, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday, noted that the agency received a report on the incident Thursday evening.

He said that Akinwande charged the management of the company to always be conscious of fire and ensure all necessary safety equipment were put in place so as to avert future occurrence.

He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 20:50 hrs on Thursday, 8th May 2025. The agency’s officers, led by ACFS Tijani Bamidele, promptly deployed to the scene of the incident. On getting to the scene of the incident, we met the warehouse of the foam mattress company engulfed by fire.

“The firemen swiftly swung into action by applying necessary firefighting chemicals in curtailing such fire. The fire was strictly restricted from spreading to other manufacturing sections and other sections of the company.

“The fire was completely extinguished within fifteen minutes, but it had been burning an hour before the agency was called by a passerby who saw the smoke coming out from the company’s premises.

“The fire only affected the foam blocks warehouse, and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the Agency. At the scene of the fire incident, the Senior Adviser (SA) on Fire Service Reform/Chairman, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, charged the management of the company to always be conscious of fire and ensure all necessary safety equipment were put in place so as to avert future occurrence.

“He also assured the public that this present administration under the good leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde values the safety of lives and properties in the state. He urged the public to see the firemen as their friends and that they should always be of their assistance during the firefighting operations.”
