Billionaire Elon Musk is not gaining anything from running the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE.
This was disclosed by US President Donald Trump in a short snippet of an interview with Fox News which is being broadcast later today.
In the preview, Trump is asked if he trusts Musk, the X owner now running DOGE, which is not an official government department.
The US President said: “He’s not gaining anything,” adding that he is going to tell Musk to check the Department of Education “soon” and then do “the same thing” to the US military.
“We’re going to find billions, hundreds of billions, of dollars of fraud and abuse,” Trump added.
Trump had backed Musk and DOGE to cut costs across agencies.
DAILY POST reports that such agencies includes the US Treasury Department and the US Agency for International Development, USAID.
DOGE dismantled USAID and all but roughly 600 members of its 10,000-plus staff around the world were placed on leave.
