A suspect who was named in the burning of a 74 years old woman in Abagana, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been arrested.
Four persons had been earlier arrested for their involvement in the matter, but Obinna Anene, who was named as the prime suspect, initially escaped.
It had been earlier gathered that the incident was linked to ritual killing, between the suspect and another lady.
Spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga revealed the arrest of the suspect in a press release.
The statement read, “Obinna Anene ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Amene Village, Abagana, who was mentioned as the principal suspect in the case of burning and killing of a 74-year-old woman, Alice Anene, at Abagana on 27/01/2025, has been arrested.
He is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide SCID Section Awka for a debrief. Further details shall be communicated.
