In a decisive operation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested a 75-year-old man, Nuhu Baba, for drug trafficking in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The operation led to the seizure of various illicit substances, including Tramadol, Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, and rubber solution.
According to NDLEA Spokesperson, Sadiq Maigatari, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had been involved in the illicit drug trade for over two years, using it as a means of livelihood. His confession highlights the growing concern over the reach of drug trafficking, which cuts across all age groups, including the elderly.
Commenting on the arrest, the Kano State NDLEA Commander, CN AI Ahmad, reiterated the agency’s unwavering commitment to tackling drug abuse and trafficking in the state. He emphasized the critical role of community participation in curbing the menace, urging residents to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to the authorities.
This case serves as a stark reminder of how deeply substance abuse has penetrated our communities. The fight against drug trafficking requires the active involvement of every citizen,” CN Ahmad stated.
