Father Pleads For Release Of ‘Gospel Singer’ Accused Of Murder

The father of a ‘gospel singer,’ Timilehin Ajayi, accused of murdering a corps member, Salome Adaidu, has pleaded for his son’s release.

Ajayi, who gained recognition after his 2020 album God of the Earth, was arrested in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, near the Federal Capital Territory, and charged with the gruesome killing.

He was reportedly found in possession of Adaidu’s severed head in a polythene bag.

Naija News recalls that the Nasarawa State High Court has ordered Ajayi’s remand as investigations continue.

Speaking to Channels Television, Ajayi’s father appealed to the government for mercy. “I want the government to help me so that the matter is settled. I want them to help me beg so that he is released,” he said.

However, Ajayi’s mother took a different stance, expressing her willingness to leave the matter to the authorities.

“If it was one of my daughters they did that to, how would I feel?” she asked. “So government can do anything they want to do. Everything is in their hands.”

A Violent Turn In A Relationship
During his interrogation, Ajayi confessed to the crime, revealing that he had been in a one-year relationship with Adaidu.

He claimed that a heated argument escalated into a violent confrontation during which Adaidu allegedly attempted to stab him with a knife.

Ajayi, who also promotes himself as a motivational speaker on TikTok, admitted that the rest of Adaidu’s body was at his residence.

The remains of Salome Adaidu have since been interred, as captured in a viral video showing mourners wailing during the burial. The Adaidu family continues to grieve their loss, with calls for justice growing louder.
