Protest Trends As Nigerians React To Supreme Court Verdict Affirming Tinubu’s Victory

Protest is currently trending on social media platform, X, following the Supreme Court verdict which upheld the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.

News360 Info reports that the apex court on Thursday dismissed the appeals by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart Peter Obi.

While some Nigerians shunned the call for protest, saying it would not yield any result like in the past, others claimed they were not expecting a ruling that would favour the opposition parties.

There are several peaceful gatherings that have been held, did you come out to join any? Sometimes y’all just tweet from the comfort of your sitting room without objective thinking. Instead of gaslighting people, lead one and ask people to join you.”

@PIDOMNIGERIA wrote: “The Nigerian supreme court of double standards and two mouths. They bend the laws and misinterpret the constitution intentionally whenever they are heavily bribed to favour someone deliberately, then adjust it back to factory reset, after the favour. Who can question them?”

@VincentAhonsi wrote: “Listening to the #SupremeCourt rulings on Nigeria’s presidential election, i think d opposition lawyers did a shoddy job. Doctors would have done better than this in court. Time to now end d distractions, put heads together, and move d sick ship of state forward.”

@KenUttih wrote: “You have to snatch it, grab it and run with it. That was their mantra and they did just that using all the relevant institutions as tools.”
