Bandits Attack President Buhari’s Convoy In Katsina

The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.

According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, the attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.

He said two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered.

The statement added that all the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura, the President’s hometown.

It was, however, uncertain if any security personnel was killed during the attack.

Meanwhile, terrorists on Tuesday reportedly killed an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Aminu Umar Dayi.

Dayi according to reports, was killed by terrorists in Katsina State on Tuesday night.

The deceased and his team members were reportedly ambushed while on a clearance operation in Zakka forest, Safana Local Government Area of the state today.

The police personnel and his colleagues were said to have confronted the bandits numbering about 300 at Yauni village in the Zakka district of Safana.
