2023: Kwankwaso denies receiving $660,000 from Wike for Kano PDP delegates

Former Kano Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has denied receiving gratification from Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike.

A statement Saturday night by spokesman, Ibrahim Adamu said the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) national leader was embarrassed by the bribery claim.

The former Kano Central Senator is accused of receiving $15,000 from Wike for each of the 44 Kano Peoples Democratic Party delegates.

Adamu recalled that Kwankwaso announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on March 29.

“It is ridiculous that a Presidential Aspirant will entice an opposition party leader with money to woe delegates from his own party.

“We deny this spurious allegation. We urge the general public to disregard the false information as it is totally false and misleading”, he said.

Kwankwaso told his supporters to remain focused, resolute and ignore “reports sponsored to blemish” his “soaring popularity”.

The 811 PDP delegates consist of one national delegate elected from each of the 774 Local Government Areas.

Others are one special delegate per state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as persons living with disabilities.

Kwankwaso, a former Minister of Defence, is the presidential candidate of the NNPP.

Wike is a presidential aspirant of the PDP. The platform’s convention is ongoing in Abuja.
