Lagos Police Give Update On Toyosi’s False Alarm

Lagos State Police Command has given an update on the ‘arrest’ of Toyosi, a lady who stirred tension on social media after alleging she was raped and kidnapped.
A media personality, Deji Adesogan had reported earlier that Toyosi was arrested after causing unrest on social media with her false information.

He tweeted: “FINALLY: Lagos State Police Command has reportedly arrested Miss @_misteriouss & set for her arraignment before a Lagos court, for raising false alarm (of rape & kidnapping) & disturbance of public peace.”

Toyosi, known as @_misteriouss, had claimed to have been kidnapped and raped at the Akoka area of Lagos.

She took to her Twitter page to send out an SOS, with the address of where she was being allegedly held and the phone number of the alleged culprit.

Moments later, Toyosi took to her Twitter to announce that she was okay and that it was a false alarm.

Her brother also accused her of seeking attention with the false alarm as her Twitter followers had increased to 3000 from 1000.

However, in a telephone interview with Naija News on Thursday, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said Toyosi wasn’t arrested but went to the station herself.

He said interrogation is still ongoing on the case and the next line of action will be taken after.
