An 18-year-old and 13-year old have been apprehended by the police after kidnapping a child in Edo.
The incident occurred at Erue Community in Uromi axis of Esan North-East Local Government Area of the state.
Kontongs Bello, spokesperson of the command said a good samaritan rescued the child and brought him to the police station.
He said: “At about 1300hrs one Testimony Akioyame ‘F’ ( 8 ) of Arue Uromi in Esan North-East was brought to Uromi Police Divisional Headquarters by a good Samaritan, he informed the police that he found her tied down in an uncompleted building at Erue community of Uromi,
“On receipt of the girl and the information, the police operative immediately swung into action and arrested the duo of Godstime Obioko ‘M’ (18) and Destiny Osevaru ‘M’ (13) of Erue community in Esan Nort
Bello also said that the suspects who confessed to the crime stated that they had tied up the girl and kept her in an abandoned building. They went to charge their phones but when they returned the abductee was no where to be found.
The kidnappers claimed they intended to charge the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00) as ransom from the victims parents.
