Women Who Claim To Have Lost Children At Lekki Massacre Storm Lagos Street

Some mothers who claimed to have lost their children to the Lekki shooting that led to the death of peaceful protesters on October 20th, 2020, have staged a protest in Lagos.

This is coming a few days after Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos state governor, had in a press conference on Tuesday invited some youths in the state to join him in the “historic march for our dear Lagos.”

In the now-viral video, a group of women led by @Justadetoun, one of the End SARS protesters Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu invited for a peaceful walk, were seen staging a protest in front of the deputy governor’s residence in Ikoyi.

The women who held placards could be heard in a video shared by the Guardian, singing songs and demanding justice.

Naija News recalls that a panel set up by the state government to investigate the incident had indicted the Nigerian Army and Police, as well as the state government in the killing of unarmed peaceful protesters at the Lekki tollgate.

However, the Lagos state government rejected the findings of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry that nine persons were killed at the Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2020, describing the claim of killings by the panel as “assumptions and speculations”.

The government stance caused more outcry with many accusing the government of not being fair and truthful.
