President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has been elected the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West Africa States, ECOWAS.
Akufo-Addo was elected in Niamey, Republic of Niger as the new ECOWAS Chair at the ongoing 57th Summit.
Recall that Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari had during the summit warned African leaders against the unnecessary elongation of tenure in office.
Buhari had said the trend was becoming a source of trouble for the region.
