Members of the House of Representatives have elected Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker, House of Representatives of the 9th assembly.
Although counting of votes is still ongoing, he has been able to get simple majority votes in his favour.
Some of the members-elect rejoice and chant Gbajabiamila’s name as the lawmaker has so far garnered more than half of the total votes cast. His campaign DG, Abdulmumin Jibrin as well as other APC lawmakers sitted close to him have taken turns to congratulate him.
There was also wild jubilation as Bago, Gbajabiamila’s challenger, went to where he was sitted to congratulate him on his imminent victory.
The speakership race was between Femi Gbajabiamila who is the preferred candidate of his party, the All Progressives Congress, and another APC member, Mohammed Bago.
