The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has put its 52 clinics and hospitals across the country into public use for profit making.
The hospitals and clinics, which were meant for staff of the Corporation would now be opened to the staff of other oil companies and other interested persons, according to the Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru.
According to the statement from the NNPC spokesperson, Ndu Ughmadu, the decision of the Corporation to diversify into the health sector was in line with the Corporation’s stand to stay afloat as a commercially viable entity.
Ughamadu stated that GMD made the position of the management known in Abuja while inaugurating the Boards of the NNPC Medical Services Ltd. (NMSL) and the NNPC Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) Ltd.
