Three officials of the Osun State Government have been kidnapped by gunmen.
The officials were kidnapped in Kogi State.
This kidnapped were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Adebimpe Ogunlumade; the Director, State Audit, Tajudeen Badejoko; and Driver, Oladapo Ajani Arogundade.
The officials were said to have been accosted by the gunmen between Obajana and Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, and forced to stop before they were violently whisked away.
The officials were returning from Abuja where they attended the briefing on the State and Local Government Reforms Project, a World Bank and European Union Programme.
The Osun State Government said it has alerted all necessary security agencies nationwide in general and Kogi State in particular towards the safe release of the three abducted officials.
Yakubu Usman, the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, told the News Agency of Nigeria on phone that he was in Abuja to attend a conference.
Usman said he has not been briefed on the incident.
