About 18 people were confirmed dead in a ghastly motor accident in the late hours of Sunday.
THISDAY checks revealed that the sad event occurred in Buzaye village along Bauchi-Jos road in which the two vehicles involved caught fire, burning all the 18 passengers as there was no rescue team on hand to free them.
Confirming the incident Monday, Bauchi state Police command said there was a fatal motor vehicles accident along Bauchi Jos Road, involving a DAF Truck with registration number XC-675-BAU and a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BAU-148-XR loaded with 18 passengers at Buzaye village,Bauchi.
Mohammed Haruna, the command’s spokesman, in a chat with newsmen in Bauchi, added: “The accident occurred when the truck heading towards Jos had a head-on collision with the loaded 18-seater bus coming from FCT Abuja. As a result, the bus was gutted by fire.”
