Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has promised that the Federal Government will not allow any citizen to suffer.
He stated this on Wednesday during the commissioning of some legacy projects constructed by the Governor Ibikunle Amosun administration in Ogun State.
Osinbajo assured that all the electioneering promises of the President Muhammed Buhari-led administration will be fulfilled.
The Vice President revealed that as soon as the National Assembly passes the 2016 budget, full implementation of the programmes would begin.
According to him, “all of us that witnessed 40 years of our state today will witness 60 years by God’s grace. I’m happy to be with my people and glad with all what I have seen so far.
“Let me say this, all what we promised to do at the Federal Government level will be fulfilled. Our administration’s priority is employment for our teeming youths, especially the graduates.
“What we promised as little incentive for our youths will be done but not as a free gift. We will recruit 500,000 youths and train them as volunteer teachers.
“Also, we have programmes for the women and our market people, even, the down trodden. No one will suffer in this government. All what we promised, by God’s grace, we will fulfill them.” .
Addressing the people of Ota and its environs, Governor Ibikunle Amosun thanked them for their unalloyed support for his government in the last five and half years.
Amosun also expressed happiness with Osinbajo for honouring the state’s invitation despite his tight schedule.
He appealed to the people to remain calm and resilient, promising that all uncompleted projects would be completed and more would be executed.
“What we are doing today is a celebration. Our own, the Vice President is from Ogun West, his mother side. It is true that we cannot finish everything at once, government will fix all the roads one by one and we will do them,” Amosun promised.
The State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Roqeeb Adeniji, Sen. Gbolahan Dada, (Ogun West), Olota of Ota, represented by Chief Idowu Balogun, Alhadja Mujeedat Oludegun and others,who spoke at the event, thanked the state government for the good jobs in the area, and like Oliver Twist, asked for more dividends of democracy in the area.
The Vice President later commissioned the Iganmode- Ilo-Awela road amid jubilation from residents of the area.
Among the dignitaries at the event were Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Laolu Akande, media aide to the VP, members of the national and state assemblies, traditional and religious leaders, transport and students unions among others.
The chopper of the Vice President landed at the Ansar ud deen pry school paying ground at exactly 1:20pm.
All the students and residents trooped out to welcome him. After the commissioning, he was driven round the town before leaving for Sagamu.
He took off to Sagamu with the governor while the other chopper took the deputy governor and the Speaker around 2:25pm.
As at the time of filling this report, entourage are on their way to Sagamu for the continuation of project commissioning.
