Nigerian Banks Reportedly Make COVID-19 Vaccination Compulsory For Staff

Banks in Nigerian have reportedly issued directives mandating staff to get the COVID-19 vaccine or post negative COVID-19 results every two weeks.

According to a report by TheCable, six banks shared circulars to their workers asking them to get vaccinated or conduct COVID-19 tests on a bi-weekly basis at personal cost.

This comes after the federal government mandated civil servants to get vaccinated against COVID-19 last week.

Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said unvaccinated workers would be barred from entering their places of work from December 1, 2021.

“Those are the options. If you are not taking the vaccine, then you’ll have to show your test result every two weeks,” a bank staff said to TheCable .

Since February 2020, Nigeria has recorded more than 200,000 cases and almost 3,000 deaths due to covid-19.
