Lagos taskforce arrests 279 miscreants, impounds 57 motorcycles

Officials of the Lagos Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit have arrested 279 miscreants and impounded 59 commercial motorcycles (okadas) across Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

Six among those arrested were released after screening, says Taskforce spokesman, Taofiq Adebayo.

This is aside three trucks loaded with okadas that were seized from their owners on Sanitation day on Saturday.

Adebayo said the Chairman of the Task Force, Olubukola Abe is determined to carry out full enforcement of the law restricting movement of okada ‎in the state.

According to him, the Chairman of the Task Force has vowed to prosecute any rider as well as passengers arrested on the restricted roads in the state.

Adebayo also noted that the Taskforce had mapped out strategy towards curtailing robbery in traffic by ensuring free flow of traffic through elimination of street trading in the metropolis.

There have been resurgence of okada riders on prohibited roads across the state as the state government strives to get them out of the road.
