Are You Weak Or Wicked? – Omokri Blasts Peter Obi Over Arrest Claim

Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri has accused former presidential candidate, Peter Obi of spreading false information about religious leader, Ahmad Tijjani Umar.

News360 Ifno reports that Obi had earlier claimed that Umar was arrested after he hosted him.

However, Umar, denied reports of being arrested and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).

He explained that he was simply invited for questioning and later released

Reacting to the development in a statement, Omokri urged Obi to correct the claims he made earlier.

“Having given false information to the effect that Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Umar was arrested by the Department of State Security, when in fact he was not arrested don’t you think it is in the interest of the public and of justice for you to correct the fallacious claims you made?” he said.

Omokri added that the cleric had personally denied the claim in a video, describing Obi’s statement as misleading.

He warned that failing to correct such information could have serious consequences.

“Failure to do so would appear as though you actually intended by your statement to incite members of the public to violence,” he stated.

The former aide described the situation as a test of leadership, urging Obi to take responsibility for his statements.

“This is a test of leadership. Will you own up to your fake news and correct yourself, or will you leave your false narrative to fester?” he asked.

Omokri further argued that while making mistakes is human, refusing to correct them is far more serious.

“Making a mistake is a human weakness. Refusing to correct it when you have the power to do so is human wickedness,” he said.

He concluded by directly challenging Obi to clarify his position.

“So, Peter, which is it? Are you weak or wicked?” he added.
