Somebody Like Jonathan Should Not Have Been President, He Wasn’t Qualified For The Job – Adebayo

Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has raised concerns about leadership preparedness in Nigeria.

News360 Info reports that the politician said former President Goodluck Jonathan was not ready for the office when he became the country’s leader.

Adebayo made the remark during a recent appearance on the Mic On Podcast, where he spoke about the standards he believes should guide the selection of leaders in Nigeria.

Speaking during the discussion, the SDP chieftain said Jonathan should not have occupied the presidential seat because he lacked the preparation required for such responsibility.

The former presidential candidate explained that governing a nation like Nigeria requires more than popularity or political support.

According to him, anyone aspiring to lead the country must possess deep knowledge of policy matters, administrative ability and clear plans for handling national challenges.

“Somebody like Jonathan should not have been president; he was not qualified or ready for the job”, he stated.

Adebayo also spoke about the role of political parties in shaping the quality of leadership produced during elections.

He said parties should focus on internal processes that allow capable and prepared individuals to emerge as candidates rather than simply pushing forward popular figures.

In other news, Adebayo has described the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “a painful lesson from God” rather than a divine blessing for Nigerians.

Adebayo spoke in Kano at a Ramadan Iftar organised by the AAFAQ Foundation, where he urged citizens to reflect deeply on the state of the nation and embrace justice over division.
